During Ohio University’s transition from Blackboard to Canvas, I was responsible for transferring this course to the new platform. Beyond migrating the content, I redesigned and restructured the course on Canvas in line with the instructor’s specifications, enhancing its functionality and user experience.
To support the instructors, highlighted sections (shown in yellow in the screencast above) are strategically placed throughout the course. These serve as instructions for the instructor, offering clear guidance on how to add specific materials or adjust content as the course evolves.
The approach at Ohio University emphasizes empowering instructors to take control of the course after the transfer process — providing the tools, resources, and guidance needed to independently manage their courses. The yellow-highlighted tips ensure instructors can continue the work confidently long after the initial setup.
